Who's behind it
This website (lienzovirtual.com/famitask) and the FamiTask app are a free, non-profit personal project by Alfredo Escamilla González. Contact: alfredo.escamilla.gonzalez@gmail.com and famitask@lienzovirtual.com.
Beta version: no guarantees
FamiTask is under development. It's offered for free and as it stands today: it may have bugs, stop working for a while, change or drop features, and in some cases lose data. Don't use it for anything important that depends on it (medication, appointments, legal or work obligations).
To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for damage caused by its use or its interruption. This doesn't limit any liability the law doesn't allow us to exclude.
Proper use
- Accounts are for people 18 or over. Children's profiles are created and managed by an adult in their family, who is responsible for them.
- FamiTask may not be used for anything illegal, to bother other people, to upload offensive content or content belonging to others without permission, or to try to access other people's accounts or force the service.
- It's also not allowed to use programs or bots to create accounts, sign in, try codes or download data, nor to open several accounts to get around the limits.
- If someone does, we can close their account without prior notice.
- Each family decides its own tasks and rewards. FamiTask only offers the tool and some example ideas.
Limits against abuse
FamiTask is free and maintained by one person. So that no one can spoil it for everyone else, it has these limits. Once you pass them, the app says "Too many attempts" and you have to wait:
- New accounts: at most 3 per hour and 10 per day from the same connection.
- Signing in: 5 wrong passwords lock that account for 15 minutes, and no more than 20 sign-in attempts every 15 minutes from the same connection.
- "I forgot my password": one email every 5 minutes and 5 a day per address, and 10 per hour from the same connection.
- Family code: 10 attempts per hour per account and 20 per connection.
- A child's tablet code: 10 wrong codes lock that connection for 15 minutes. Each code only works once and expires after 10 minutes.
- Size: up to 8 people per family and up to 8 rewards at a time per adult.
- Photos: deleted automatically after 15 days.
- Unused accounts: deleted after two years with no sign-in, with an email warning a month before.
For these limits, no IP address or plain-text email is stored, only an encrypted fingerprint that's deleted the next day. We may change the limits if needed to protect the service.
Intellectual property
FamiTask's texts, illustrations, mascot, design and code belong to its author. You may use them to use the app and to link to this website, but not copy or reuse them in other products without permission.
FamiTask uses third-party pieces under open licences, including the Fredoka and Nunito typefaces (SIL Open Font License), the Lucide icons (ISC licence) and the Expo and React Native platform (MIT licence).
Use of artificial intelligence
For transparency, and in line with the EU Artificial Intelligence Act:
- FamiTask's illustrations (the little house, the scenes, the task and reward drawings, the icons) were created with generative AI tools and then chosen, retouched and reviewed by hand. They're drawings: they don't depict real people or places.
- Some of the text and code was written with the help of AI assistants. All of it has been reviewed by a person, who is responsible for it. The advice about screens and sleep cites its source and doesn't replace a paediatrician's opinion.
- The app doesn't use artificial intelligence with your data. Neither your tasks, your photos, nor the children's data are sent to any AI service, and the app makes no automated decisions about anyone.
